Sanur was the last leg of my backpacking trip. I expected that most likely, I already have depleted funds by that time. With that thought, I decided to book for the cheapest accommodation I could find. I found Cafe Locca in Hostelworld. I booked for their Mixed-Dorm which is USD 10 per night or PHP 430 depending on the exchange rate.
I was at 7D :)
It's an 8-bed dormitory. The wooden bunks are okay, but the stairs are a bit shaky so you have to be very careful going up and down. The bed, the pillow and the blanket were comfy enough. The A/C works well too. It can actually get very cold.
traditional is love
I've been seeing this kind of ceiling throughout my trip, so I'm guessing that's their traditional style. The lighting in the room is very conducive to sleeping which is nice. Though we are 8 in the room, it is still big enough for us to walk around a little bit. The only thing I disliked was that, there are just 2 electric outlets in the dorm! I mean, there are 8 people there so there should be more than 2, right? It was quite a hassle to wait before you can charge your gadgets.
lockers for your valuables
Every dorm should have a locker of course. A very important facility for safekeeping. You will be given your own set of keys for the dorm room and the locker. I was relieved because I'd forgotten my own padlock's number combination. Whew!
The bathroom is just outside the room. They provide the basic toiletries like shampoo, soap and toilet papers. You may also ask for towels from the front desk.
The room and the toilet are always clean which is great. They also make up your bed everyday.
take the plunge!
Stunning little pool, isn't it? You can find this at the back, near the private rooms and the dining area. It's always nice to chill here or take a swim anytime you want to. It's also a great place to meet and bond with the other guests.
waiting for check-in
The location is quite okay. It is 20-30 minute walk to the beach. There are several restaurants, tour agents and laundry services within short walking distance. The area is pretty safe too. The free breakfast was so-so. But considering the cheapness of the rate, it was forgivable. Wifi can sometimes be spotty but working most of the time. They are also very responsive to inquiries. I emailed them for directions before I arrive and they replied very fast which is impressive. The people at the reception were all nice too.
So if you're looking for a nice place in the Sanur area with a very affordable rate, this might suit you. :)
